Business Class Immigration

Canada's Business Immigration Program aims to promote economic development and employment by attracting people with capital, business acumen and entrepreneurial skills. The Program also seeks to develop new commercial opportunities and to improve access to growing foreign markets by “importing” people who are familiar with those markets and their special requirements and customs.

Foreign individuals with business/managerial experience and relatively high net-worth may apply for Canadian Permanent Resident Status under one of the following three sub-categories:

   1. Immigrant Investor Program
   2. Entrepreneur Category
   3. Self-Employed Program

1.
Immigrant Investor Program

The Canadian government established the Immigration Investor Program in order to promote economic development and employment in Canada by attracting people with capital, business acumen and/or solid managerial skills.

As a qualified Immigrant Investor, you and your immediate family can obtain Canadian Permanent Resident Visas by investing CAD $400,000.00 for five years under the Federal Program (applicants intending to reside anywhere in Canada, except Quebec) or the Quebec Program (applicants intending to reside in the province of Quebec).

Both programs are Government guaranteed, assuring that your CAD $400,000.00 will be reimbursed in full, without interest, at the end of five years.

The eligibility requirements for both the Federal and Quebec Programs are summarized as follows:

3. Self-Employed Program

This category is open only to individuals with prior self-employment experience as farmers, athletes (international level) or artisans.

To qualify under the Self-Employed Category, an applicant must demonstrate an intention and ability to establish or purchase a business in Canada that will keep him or her employed and make a "significant" contribution to the economy or the cultural or artistic life of Canada.

Applicants must demonstrate that the proposed business will generate sufficient revenues to support the applicant and his or her dependents. Farmers, artisans, sports personalities, actors, consultants, and operators of small business outlets that may be in demand, are examples of applicants who may qualify.

Assessment in this category is based upon the following factors:

Business Ability and Experience (When applying under the economic contribution component of the self-employed description);
Artistic Qualifications (When applying under the artistic/cultural component of the self-employed description), and
Net Worth (Sufficient to establish/purchase the proposed business)

2.  Entrepreneur Category

The Entrepreneur Program seeks to attract people with business experience who have the intention and ability to actively manage a business in Canada that will positively impact the Canadian economy and create employment opportunities for Canadian residents.

As a qualified Entrepreneur, you and your immediate family can obtain Canadian Permanent Resident Visas under the Federal Program (applicants intending to reside anywhere in Canada, except Quebec) or the Quebec Program (applicants intending to reside in the province of Quebec).

Both programs require you to establish or acquire a percentage of equity (at least 33.33%) in a qualifying Canadian business that you must actively manage. Your business must create at least one new job for a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

The eligibility requirements of both the Federal and Quebec programs are summarized below:
